DC- chapter 7

BROKEN

“Listen Bunny.” Bo replied

Zhan paid attention curiously.

“What is Bo?”

He replied worried, his hand visibly shaking.

“I don’t see us compatible.”

His message arrived.

It was a bombshell to Zhan, this is it, the moment, he would finally be happy with this stranger he had loved for Long.

“What are you saying, (laughing emoji) you haven’t even met me, are you joking, please stop Bo.”

He sent his reply and chuckled nervously at the bad joke.

But yet he couldn’t control the heat of nervousness that had shaken his whole system, his body was shivering as if he got a bad fever.

“Bunny, listen, I am watching you right now.”

His message arrived.

“Then let me see you Bo, please… at least we can talk it out, I am more beautiful at heart than physical, I don’t want to sound desperate but I really love you Bo, please don’t do this.”

He typed with shaky fingers, trying to control his emotions.

“I am not doing this because of how low your beauty or class, you deserve more, I don’t want to ruin your day, believe me you won’t want me either.”

“Don’t you lie to me Bo.” he texted back and sobbed fighting back his tears.

He looked around to see if he could identify him but it was impossible, I mean we are talking about a faceless man.

He stood up to his feet, his tears won’t stop coming, his glance touching every corner of the large room.

“Bo please” he texted again.

“I can’t continue, eat and enjoy the night, you have nothing to lose after all.”

How can he say that, Zhan yelled in his mind.

How can he sound so cruel? Zhan tried to chat with him immediately but got blocked.

His heart raced at an unbelievable speed he did think he would pass out. He looked around not minding his tears, then he saw a man leaving the restaurant.

He guessed him to be Bo and quickly rushed out but it was too late, he was already gone.

Ignoring the people watching, he cried his soul out.

A Lot of people were staring at him, like he did lost his mind.

Then his phone ranged, he glanced at it absentmindedly as tears continued flowing down his cheeks.

It was Jiyang, probably calling to know how the date was going.

Just then he heard his name, turning around he found two of his colleagues.

The face of the company Jinli and her best friend Kim.

“Oh my gosh, what happened, are you okay?”

They walked towards him.

Zhan knew they didn’t mean it in a nice way but as a mockery.

He tried not to cry and look pathetic, cleaning the tears around his jaw.

He stepped aside pretending to care less about their presence.

“I have a boyfriend Bo, he is so caring.. bla… bla I thought the boy was joking, I mean who would settle for this.” Jinli stated, her friend laughed.

“Well he wasn’t, Bo is real. Man took one look at him and knew he deserved better,” the other added. They both crack up.

“Well just in case he left the bill for you honey, I will pay it, don’t cry too much, you gonna mess up your makeup, and stain the loaned outfit Jinli contributed.

They laughed again and walked towards the restaurant entry.

Jiyang kept trying his number but he couldn’t answer it, he didn’t know how, after everything, how will he face it and tell his friend that he was right all along, Zhan thought.

I was single and was bluffing about a lover, a lover who must have thought, let me give his little boring life something to hope on, I am so ashamed of myself for being such a childish adult, I never met him but yet why am I so hurt, he cried silently.

His heart ached so bad, he had to hold on to his chest, but what did he expect anyway, it only worked because it was an anonymous date.

His phone rang yet again, he had cried to the point where he had no tears left, so he had to pick up the courage to answer.

“Hello”

“What the heck, why aren’t you picking up, you got us dead worried for Christ’s sake, you are on a blind date, not screw my friends date”

“Us?” Zhan asked curiously.

“Well Haoxuan is here too, waiting for you I guess, now tell me, are you two going to spend the night together or what?”

“Why should we? We are not together anymore Jiyang” Zhan scuffed out a sad laughter, tears clouding his eyes, resisting all his effort to push it all down.

“Boy, you are bad at jokes, were you two ever together?” Jiyang teased.

Zhan laughed sadly and sniffed.

“You are right anyway Jiyang, we are never together and without even coming to my face, he broke up with me right here, he doesn’t want me Jiyang”

“Are you pulling my legs Zhan?”Jiyang asked, still in doubt.

Zhan lips drew into a lazy grin, he blinked his eyes to seal the tears.

“I think his exact words were, I have seen you and believe me you can deserve better, he should have at least let me see him and decide if I want anyone better, I felt so much alive talking with on the phone, I thought we had a thing you know, I was just being a desperate bitch, just desperate for love.”

He arched his brows as he struggled not to break down again.

“Oh Zhan” Jiyang gasped in a tone that made him feel even more pathetic and tear up.

“I guess this is it, Jiyang, I am bad luck” Zhan sobbed.

“No you are not, don’t let that jerk make you feel inferior about yourself, he is right about one thing baby, you deserve better, now honey please stay wherever you are, I am coming right over there please don’t do anything silly”

Zhan nodded feverishly and put the phone down slowly.

“Hello… hello…Zhan?”

When Zhan ignored him for minutes, he hung up and Zhan know he must be on his way to got him.

He went and sat on the entrance staircase like a lost soul seeking refuge, ignoring the stares from the hotel guests and passersby.

As soon as the call ended, Jiyang picked his jacket up and rushed to the room to get his car keys, returning back to the sitting room, Haoxuan who had been curious about the sudden change, walked up to him.

“What happened, why are you all pale, what did he say what happened? Is he alright?”

“No Haoxuan, I don’t think so, Bo broke up with him, he didn’t even consider him important to meet and talk to, from his explanation, he was right there but Zhan never met with him”

“What a jerk, how can he treat him like a mere thing, he could at least sit with him and talk things out than…poor Zhan.” Haoxuan cursed out angrily.

Jiyang sighed heavily and turned to face him.

“To think that I was actually teasing him about Bo not being interested in him and not loving him as much as Zhan loves him, now I feel so terrible he must have wailed that I told him so, I don’t know what to do to make him feel better”

He inhaled deeply. “I have to go and get him home, are you coming?”

“Of course I am coming with you”

Opposite the Restaurant, Yibo was watching him from his car window.

Why do I feel so bad about this, it was supposed to be easy, he thought.

But still his fingers itched to send him a message as anonymous again but his ego? or fear of rejection? hatred?

He can’t just point at the exact purpose but he is very sure of one thing, Bunny would never expect his Bo to be someone like him.

This boy hated him and slapped him in front of his employees and staff.

Yibo won’t let him humiliate him again. No one will ever do that to him again as long as he lives, he had sworn many years ago until he met him, and Bunny must be the last to dare it.

He stared at him again, furious then he hissed, inwardly cursing at the sudden feeling of pity towards him.

Why should I care so much about a person I never met, or a rude employee who challenged me in front of everyone at the company? I should be happy I humiliated him, who messed with me.

Deep down he knew he still can’t deny he had a thing with the one, who I dated online and now why this strange feeling of void and fear of letting him go, he doesn’t like this feeling not even a bit.

Yibo cursed and tried to wave off the thought of him from his mind but it seemed impossible, like Bunny had gotten into his head and completely owned it.

Knowing him in person, had replaced the face, he had imagined all this while for his Bunny.

Fighting not to stare, he found himself glancing again towards the window again.

He saw two person there, one  was consoling him and he recognized the other male friend as his employee.

“You can drive now”

He ordered his driver coldly.

“Yes, young master”.
