CH. chapter 37

Wang Yibo

“what?” Yibo asked in shocked.

Haikuan looks guilty and disturbed too.

“I…i just had a small meeting with the CEO of the newspaper who published Zhan interview, according to them Zhouxuan was gone with the intention of taking interview of Zhan when she saw both of you in gala, by chance she saw Zhan and she acts like they are having a small talk rather than interview. The CEO told me that he fire Zhouxuan immediately and investigate the matter because he knows Wang’s name was involved… Zhouxuan wants to get some promotions so she used this tactic to get fake publicity on your behalf…. Yibo.”

Haikuan looks away. “Zhan indeed met Zhouxuan by chance he wasn’t giving any interview.”

Yibo drops the cigarette in the floor and sit down in shocked and was quite… Zhan didn’t betray him… he was telling him the truth but what he did to him. God for the last 12 days his wife has not opened an eye, he looks so fragile and so week that he has been on the feeding tube.

Yibo can still see how he hit him with belt how Zhan screamed… how he begged him…

And then he sees Fei face who has been restless because she can’t see her mother….

He felt throbbing pain in his head and said. “Fuck… I should probably go to the police.”

Haikuan sighs loudly.

“Yibo don’t be stupid… we have been on this topic like a thousand times but all the time I told you it will not benefit anyone… look I realized you feel guilty…. hell I’m too… if I haven’t called you then he won’t be in this position but… I know I’m a bastard to say this now but Yifei needs justice… and Zhan is involved in it… We are close Yibo very close… just need a big proof.”

Yibo stands suddenly.

“Fuck it… I know Yifei need justice. And I will be damn if I don’t give her.. but Zhan.. this time he was innocent and i..(he hold his head) I hurt him so bad…. he might never wake up.” Yibo said with a feared voice.

Haikuan put his hand on Yibo shoulder.

“He will.. we have given him the best care… the doctor might not be optimistic but they not hopeless too…. but I’m more concern about dad… he is different now and I have told him whole story about you and Zhan.. he still doesn’t think Zhan can do it… Yibo, he is determined to take Zhan and Fei when Zhan woke up… that’s more worrying me.” Haikuan said in an uncomfortable voice.

Yibo said loudly “fuck I know I made a mistake but dad can’t take my family.”

“A family you don’t deserve… a family you make sure in which your daughter can’t see her mother again.. and family where you are plotting to put your wife behind the bar for a crime he never commits.” Mr. Wang loud voice boom in the room.

Yibo looks away in shame and said. “Dad. I made a mistake. I accept it but you don’t know that Yifei is dead because of Zhan.”

“Don’t fucking call me dad again… you are lucky that you are not behind the bar but I’m waiting for Zhan to speak and say it by himself it was you…. and even if you give me hundred of proof against Zhan… still i wont believe… my son Zhan can’t hurt anyone certainly not Yifei.”

Mr. Wang choked with emotions and then become still and Haikuan and Yibo look how his father grasp for air and his body was now falling…

Both brothers run to their dad and said “Dad.”

They make Mr Wang sit down and then Yibo give some water to him. “I’m … I saw the twitch in your walk yesterday too!”

Mr Wang stop him. “Stop it.. I’m ok… my son needs to be ok then I will be perfectly fine… it’s all stress.”

Yibo said. “Dad. Then you need to relax a bit. I know you are angry but we need you.”

Mr Wang when he felt he was little ok he stands slowly. “I wish I can say the same about you.” and then he walked away.

Xiao Zhan

Zhan felt the small hand on his face and instantly he felt pull to that hand… he can smell the baby powder and baby formula smell exactly like… his Fei…

Zhan was dreaming again he is sure but he can hear the background voices again this time more clearly.

“Yanli what is Fei doing here… you know she shouldn’t be here.” he heard harsh male voice.

Yanli voice was softly but firmed. 

“Yibo Fei wants to see her mother, you have no idea how this little girl is getting fed up and sad… she wants to see her mama.”

Zhan wants to open his eyes but he was trapped in steel chains, he wants to hold his child but he can’t reach her…

Then he felt a kiss… Fei soft lips were on Zhan cheek.

“Ma, mama” Fei said in a baby voice.

Zhan heart constraint and he cry in frustration when he can’t break the chains in his dream… His baby need him..

Yibo makes a painful voice. “You… plz Yanli take her, it’s not good for a baby to see her mother like that, plz.”

But Zhan doesn’t want his baby gone… Yibo why you doing this…

Then Zhan saw in his dream he was free from the chains but then he felt the belt whiplash again and again and then he saw his child Fei scared face who was looking at her mother’s bleeding body… he has to protect her…

He can heard Yibo voice in his dream while he was hitting him. “you will never open you fucking mouth… I will make sure of that.”

Yibo loudly said. “What’s happening to him…. why he is shaking like that… Yanli calls the doctor she is in the other room, Zhan, come on Zhan, it’s ok you are fine,, oh god don’t let anything happen to him.”

Yibo plead in a loud voice.

Zhan then screamed loudly and he opens his eyes and saw Yibo scared and shocked deep eyes.

Then he heard a lady wearing white court run to him.

“Zhan calm down… ok calm down, you are ok.. you are fine… just take a deep breath, in and out.. in and out.”

Zhan looked at the lady who was a doctor and he did exactly like that…

He heard a familiar voice. “Oh thank god… my son is finally awake, Zhan oh god Zhan are you ok.”

Mr Wang presence was sure enough calming him, but he wants to see his daughter.

He opens his eyes but then he saw Yibo face in front of him. “Zhan tell me do you need something tell me please.”

Zhan freeze at the moment and he become tense and he can’t say anything… it felt like a huge cotton ball was forcefully fitted inside his mouth… he looked away… Yibo will kill me… he will kill me…

The doctor can sense that Zhan was shocked. “I want some alone time with Zhan, since I have to check his vital…and let him out of the tubes, then you can guys see him.”

But Yibo was not happy. “I’m not leaving my wife, he was trying to say something he need something.”

Mr Wang come in front of him and said. “You are going out.. didn’t make it more difficult let the doctor do their jobs.”

Mr. Wang said in a tone which leaves no room for argument.

When they were gone…

Zhan was still crying but silently.. he knows something bad has happened… he wants to tell everyone what happens to him… he wants to see his daughter but he can’t speak.. 

A doctor looked at Zhan in concern and said.

“Zhan, I want you to take a sip of the water very slowly (doctor put the straw in the glass and Zhan took a small sip), now, Zhan, can you say something.. like your name to what you need. I really need to listen your voice.” Doctor said in a suspicious tone.

Zhan opens his mouth and said the word but no voice came… he did it again and try to take again his Fei name but no voice… he felt his body was hurting but his voice was numb…

Doctor also was shocked and said. “it’s ok you are tired maybe next time..”

But Zhan knows he might have lost his voice…

Wang Yibo

He was awake.. oh thank god he is wake… I will take care of him now, he will be fine now… Fei will be happy too…

Then he felt the doctor came out but her eyes were little worried.

Mr Wang jumped and said. “How’s Zhan, is he ok?”

The doctor looks down and sighs. 

“He is fine.. it’s a good sign he is awake because we were getting worried but… but there is a problem…”

Yibo held his breath. “What’s the problem?”

Doctor, “I think it’s because of shocked or trauma he was before… made him lose his voice. I mean medically his vocal cords him normal like anybody but he has a fear or so emotional baggage that won’t let him speak, he is trying to speak but his mind is not accepting that… he may speak now maybe tomorrow or maybe never… it totally depends upon how Zhan deal with things further now.”

Yibo lost all the color from his face and Mr Wang looked the doctor in shocked….

Yibo stumble and said. “Will.. will he.. he.. ever talk.. I..I mean can we do something or help to talk.”

The doctor looked at them. “Of course we can try… but like I said it’s his mind.. that will allow him to talk, but till that time, don’t force him to talk, give him some time.. and try to make him happy.. I’m sure he will speak again.”

Mr Wang did not say anything and walk slowly toward Zhan room and Yibo was shell-shocked.. what the fuck he did.. he.. he took his voice from his wife.. his soft gentle voice his angelic voice when he sings lullaby to Fei… it’s all gone because of him…

He looked up and said. “oh god what I did.”

Yibo knows he needs to be away for a moment.

When he came back home… he went directly to his room and saw Zhan lying silently on the bed.

Where his face was covered in bruises and he looks so sick and week.

He saw next to him was Fei laying and she was sleeping sweetly…

Yanli was there too with a nurse.

He saw Zhan looked down at Fei and he was saying something but no words he can hear and it hurt him alot… It was like a real punch on his gut…

Yanli saw him standing and she said in reserved voice. “Zhan stop crying when he saw Fei so I let Fei sleep a little with him.”

Zhan flinched when he saw Yibo and closed his eyes like… he will go away…

Yibo said composedly. “I need alone time with my wife.”

Yanli looks like a mama bear like she is telling him in hell he will. “I don’t think so.”

Yibo sighs. “Yanli, please… I won’t do something. I just want to talk. Fei can also stay here… just 5 minutes.”

Yanli looks uncertain but she signals the nurse and they left them alone.

Yibo sits down opposite side on the bed where Fei small feet’s was touching his leg.

He looks down and saw how much this little girl was disturbed and hurt when she can’t see her mother.

He picked Zhan cold bony hands and saw him tense and rigid. “Zhan please open your eyes.”

Zhan was immune by his order and opened his eyes at him in a scared manner.

Yibo holds his hand softly and said. “I’m… i (he looks away) I just want you to know that you are saved… I promise on my dead sister. I will not hurt you again…. I’m sorry, so sorry and I don’t expect your forgiveness but please it’s upon you to get better, to speak again and let Fei have her mother again.”

Zhan was so numb and can’t speak, just cry and looks down…

Yibo kiss his forehead. “I’m so so sorry.” he said it again and leave them alone.
