Chapter 23

 

Xiao Zhan went home after meeting up with his friends; although he had a good time with the two of them, he cannot help but to be bothered by what he had seen earlier. Although Yibo already told him that he will not be able to help him today due to prior commitment, he cannot help but wonder who’s the other man is. Also, he looks so happy and looks like he really cherishes that man.

 

After a while he received a message from Yibo asking if he was still awake and if it’s okay if he will drop by for a while so they can have dinner. But he remembers what happened earlier and it is a bit weird if Yibo is really dating someone but still going to someone’s room in the middle of the night, besides he doesn’t feel like seeing him today and don’t know what kind of expression he will make and don’t want to make things awkward between them.

 

It is just that he doesn’t know where the bitterness comes from, so he decided just to ignore Yibo’s message, so he would think that he might be sleeping already. After a while, he received a message from Talu asking him if he’s available tomorrow since it’s his day off and wanted to make sure that he is okay. Tomorrow will be the day he’ll remove his bandage and have a checkup, so he decided to grab Talu’s offer.

 

Talu picked him up early in the morning to have breakfast before going to the hospital, but since they were too early, he forgot to bring his phone and left it in his bedroom. But since he doesn’t have anything important scheduled, he didn’t mind leaving his phone.

 

Thankfully his shoulder is fully healed, and the doctor advised him not to strain it too much to avoid complications and just give him some medicine if in case. After their schedule by the doctor, they had their lunch where they visit restaurant with Sichuan cuisine since Talu always had a busy schedule and don’t have much time to visit restaurant.

 

“Hey, it is really a shame that you were pulled out to that show!” Talu said.

 

“Why?”

 

“We’ll I kind of enjoying it, so what do you think about that Johnny? Do you really have a feeling for him hahahaha” Talu teased him.

 

“Well, I had a great time talking to him but romantically of course not yet, we just met each other,” Xiao Zhan said, it’s true though, he had a great time talking to him, but it doesn’t mean he is interested with him romantically.

 

“Yet?”

 

“We, he mentioned before that he’s flirting with me, but he just a good companion but it doesn’t mean romantically, he’s your former manager right?.”

 

“Hahahaha wow Zhanzhan, you are really dense, imagine having your suitor told you that he’s flirting with you, that’s really funny! Yes, he’s my former manager but that was just like to three months before I moved agency.”

 

“Aiyo, you know I’m not this good with this kind of things.”

 

“Yes, yes I know, but I hope that guy is really a good guy.”

 

“Who’s guy?” Xiao Zhan asked.

 

“Aiyoooo Zhanzhan, you should really check your surroundings,” Talu said as he pinched Xiao Zhan’s cheek. They grew up in the same place and have been friends since then, but sometimes he is really worried about this friend of his, there were also sometimes that Xiao Zhan is speaking some memories that he’s not aware of.

 

He knows he have a sharp memory but sometimes he cannot recall some of the memories that was mentioned, like he told him that he will become a great star or a celebrity in a future nor they had a great time playing on the mountain without their parents knowing nor how beautiful he was when they were children and looks feminine and small.

 

This is far from his childhood look, he was manly when they were young, not once someone called him feminine except for Xiao Zhan after his incident. He even called him white peony once, so at some point he is wondering who is that man on his memories. Does he have any friends during those times, but he cannot recall since they are the only children in their village during that time.

 

But he just let him be, since Xiao Zhan cannot recall that he had had an accident and even asked him if he was alright after he woke up. Maybe it really affects his memories and that may also be the cause why he is so dense when it comes to his love life. Even his former artist, Wang Yibo clearly has a feeling for him, but he didn’t know why he’s not making a move on Xiao Zhan, and just keep on being an annoying possessive person. He wanted to support Xiao Zhan, but he doesn’t want to interfere with their relationship.

 

“Uhm Talu, I have a question,” Xiao Zhan said.

 

“What?”

 

“Uhm, one of my artist, is actually having a hard time, he told me that the person taking care of him is meeting someone or had a date with someone and he really looks happy together with that person, eventhough he wanted to support them, he feels guilty, hmm not really guilty but more on bothered that he already has someone bit still visiting him from time to time and taking good care of him, so uhm what do you think the cause why he is bothered?”

 

“In layman’s term he is jealous,” Talu is not dumb this is an old way of asking for some advice if you cannot admit something for yourself. But he is wondering if that guy is Wang Yibo, and he has a date? Well, it’s not new, he had a lot of scandals before but it’s clear, so he has some feelings for Xiao Zhan as well. That’s why he is asking if that man is really a good guy, he’s getting confused as well.

 

“Why would he feel jealous? He just wanted to support that guy since he’s indebted a lot of things with him and–”

 

“That artist of yours should ask first himself what he really feels about that guy, is he just a friend that he wanted to support, or he is someone special? Or do you have a feeling for him?” Talu explained.

“Of course not! He’s just a good friend and he really took care of me, especially when I’m injured.”

 

“Got you, hahaha” Talu said as he enjoyed Xiao Zhan’s embarrassed expression. While Xiao Zhan on the other hand mumbles that he’s not good with this kind of thing. Talu just gave him some advice and didn’t mention that he had an idea who might be the other guy is and Xiao Zhan told him that he’s just thankful to that guy and wanted to support him.

 

After a long day from breakfast to evening, they even bought some food for Xiao Zhan’s dinner but all they did was to eat in different restaurants and cafes. He really had a great day and forgot that he doesn’t have his cellphone with him.

 

Once he opens his unit, Wang Yibo is sitting on his couch and told to himself that he should really change his password, he used the same password that he had on this previous unit that is why Yibo can enter his unit, although he has no idea why 0905 is unforgettable number for him without knowing what’s the meaning behind it.

 

Yibo just keeps on watching television, even though he knows that Xiao Zhan is standing on the front door. Xiao Zhan was too hesitant to greet him, but he still did it.

 

“Bo-di, uhm good evening, how long have been waiting?” Xiao Zhan said while trying his best to smile.

 

Wang Yibo just turn off the television and stood up, he just checks him from toes to head and looked at his takeout food, without saying anything he just went out and go back to his unit. Xiao Zhan was stunned and hurt by the indifference of Yibo about him, he thought maybe that he’s glad that there’s no reason for him to take care of him since his injury healed already.

 

“Goodness, am I overthinking again? His face is far from being happy nor relieved though,” Xiao Zhan said to himself as he crouches down frustratedly. He looks at the takeout food and says, “What should I do with it, that’s his favorite dish, should I still give it to him? But he looks mad at me.”

 

“Aiyo! Xiao Zhan that’s it!” Xiao Zhan said as he encouraged himself and went up to visit Yibo’s unit.  He rang the doorbell for several times, but the younger man didn’t open the door. He waited patiently and sat outside the door, but it had been 30 mins since he pressed the doorbell, so, he got the sticky notes in his wallet and wrote something.

 

“I know this is not much but thank you for taking good care of me for the past weeks. These are your favorite foods, although they are cold already :). -XZ.”

 

He left the takeout foods on his doorknob together with his sticky notes, he might not be on his unit right now and the food will not spoil even if they saw them until tomorrow morning.

 

He went back to his room and noticed his forgotten phone since earlier, as he checked his phone there were a lot of missed calls, to be exact 85 missed calls and messages. Most of them are from Yibo and some of them are from Xnine members asking where he is and Yibo is looking for him.

 

He really forgot to inform Yibo that he will go out with Talu and will proceed to his check up along the way due to unknown feelings ever since he has seen Yibo on the restaurant. He facepalmed and realized that might be the reason why he was so mad earlier. He tried to call Yibo but he didn’t answer the phone, obviously rejecting his call. He tried again but with the same result, he also sent him a message, but he just seen the message and no response.

 

Xiao Zhan decided to go back to Yibo’s unit and saw that the takeout foods that he hanged are still there, so Yibo might not be in his room right now. He decided just to sit in the corner, lean his back on the wall, and wait for his arrival since he’s not answering his phone calls and messages. He needs to apologize and inform him that he really didn’t mean to ignore his message and that he only forgets to bring his phone.

 

On the other hand, Wang Yibo is just looking on his screen pondering if he’s going to answer his message, but decided not to ad he is still mad at Xiao Zhan this time, he heard Xiao Zhan earlier when he pressed his doorbell and decided to ignore him. He even asked those idols if they knew where he was and as expected they didn’t know.

 

He’s even afraid that something bad happened to him since some of his friends didn’t know where he is. Thankfully he called the doctor and asked him if Xiao Zhan dropped by for his appointment, the doctor confirmed it and informed him that he is with Talu.

 

After that he stopped calling him and just decided to wait for him. He went to the shower first to clear his mind as he needs to control his emotion, he cannot let this be a reason to make things worse between them. He’ll just talk to him tomorrow morning.

 

After clearing his mind, he saw Xiao Zhan last message 30 mins ago.

 

“It seems like you’re not at home, I brought you some food I hung it on your doorbell, but again I’m sorry I didn’t mean to ignore your message. I’ll wait for you outside.”

 

Yibo quickly ran towards the door half naked and checked the intercom to see if he was outside, but unfortunately, he cannot see anyone and mumbles, “Who am I kidding, that was 30 minutes ago, and he cannot even wait for that long?” He is getting frustrated again, but he remembers that maybe he really left the food on the doorknob, so he went out and checked it.

 

As he checked the opposite side of the door for the food, he noticed that someone’s feet were sitting behind the door and in the corner. He found on the corner the sleeping Xiao Zhan, nothing but on his shirt and cardigan and usual black pants and home slippers. The floor and wall id cold and it’s obvious that he is cold as well based on how he hugs his knees.

 

Yibo was stunned by the sleeping Xiao Zhan in front of him, and he crouched in front of him while messing with his wet hair and mumbled, “What should I really do with you Zhan-ge, if you are this cute how can I stay mad at you?” Yibo reached out for his hair and gently kissed the tip of it and not to wake him up.

 

Xiao Zhan really looks tired even though he really enjoyed the day but maybe because of the overthinking that he has since yesterday his body felt relaxed and fell asleep even on the coldest floor in their building.

 

Yibo gently carried him inside together with the food on his door and laid him down on his bed. He gently tucks him in bed and kisses his forehead and falls asleep beside his beloved Zhan-ge.
