Chapter 11

 

Xiao Zhan introduced Pei Xin to Yibo as his road manager, however he still didn’t inform Yibo that he will be transferred to another artist.

 

“Zhan-ge, is he aware that you’ll be transferred to another artist?” Pei Xin asked.

 

“Not yet”

 

“Why? What would I do if he asked me? Now that I meet him, he’s scary personally and kind of cold but handsome!”

 

“Hahaha, we’ll that’s everyone first impression but just give him a few days or week and he’ll open up to you. He’s a good kid! Besides you are the same age as him.”

 

“But Zhan-ge, why does the other tenured manager doesn’t want to handle him?”

 

“Well as you know he’s a little bit troublemaker, but I think that was before he’s not making any ruckus right now, that’s why I think it is the best if I do this right now.” Xiao Zhan said.

 

“Oh, I see, please take care of me Zhan-ge while you’re still here!”

 

“Of course, even if I’m no longer his manager you can contact me if you need some help and besides, we are still in the same company!”

 

“Thank you Zhan-ge! But which artist are you going to handle?”

 

“Well, as you know most of artist are quite famous, so to compromise my request, they give me this idol group.”

 

“Idol? But wouldn’t it be so hard since they’re more than one?”

 

“Well, I don’t think so, since they are still promoting their group most of their schedules are for music banks and pre-recording unlike with actor that I have to stay with them for 24/7. Besides they are living in a dorm.”

 

“What’s the name of the group Zhan-ge?”

 

“It’s X-Nine”

 

Wang Yibo is always busy to the point that he’s getting irritated by the new manager, or the fact that his main manager is always busy talking to his assistant. This is not new, there were times that his brother asked him if they needed an assistant or road manager, but he always declined but this time it’s different he insisted that he really needed it and for the sake of Xiao Zhan as well.

 

Like what he has mentioned before there were times that his stomach ached, and back is aching, due to fatigue maybe. But on Yibo’s defense, Xiao Zhan is workaholic as well even though sometimes he asked him to sleep while on shoot he always insisted that he needs to watch him.

 

But lately Xiao Zhan has been visiting his brother frequently and they always have a meeting, that’s why Pei Xin is the one who ofter assist him. It’s obvious that this guy fears him, and Xiao Zhan mentioned that they are the same age.

 

“Hey” Yibo called him while they were in the car.

 

“Uhm, y-yes do you need anything Mr. Wang?”  Pei Xin asked while stuttering, it’s been almost 3 weeks since he started working as Yibo’s assistant manager and soon to be the manager, the offer is good, but he’s still a bit scared of Yibo, although his bodyguard Lele is a good person as well and said the same thing as Xiao Zhan that Yibo is not a bad person just a little bit cold at first.

 

“Where’s Zhan-ge?”

 

“Ah, he has a meeting in the agency I think they are preparing for your flight next week for the fashion week.” Pei Xin said, it is true that they are preparing the schedule but at the same time Zhan will have a meeting with his new artist, but he told him to keep this a secret with Yibo.

 

“Until now?” Yibo asked.

 

“I guess he’s on way home.”

 

But instead of thanking or answering Pei Xin again, Yibo quickly dialed Xiao Zhan’s number, but his manager was not answering his phone.

 

“He’s not answering his phone.”

 

“Oh, maybe he’s waiting for a bus?”

 

“Hm. Let’s go to the waiting station.”

 

“Uhm, okay Mr. Wang,” Pei Xin doesn’t have a choice but to comply.

 

Haikuan scheduled a meeting between Xiao Zhan and X-Nine members, they are the newly found group from the agency so most of their schedule are photoshoots, recordings, and guesting. They might seem busy, but it’s better compared to Yibo’s schedule, and they just cannot pull out any managers from their current artist, so he decided to hire Pei Xin and move Xiao Zhan to the newly formed group.

 

Thankfully these boys are living in the same dorm and Xiao Zhan will move to a unit near their dorm.

 

“Hi Haikuan, sorry I’m a bit late I just came from Yibo’s location.”

 

“It’s fine Xiao Zhan, they are already waiting in the meeting room. You know the drill, right?”

 

“Haha yes, thank you, I’ll meet them.”

 

Xiao Zhan went directly to the meeting room to meet the idol group. “Hi! Good afternoon, guys.”

 

As he enters and greets them, everyone stands up and bows at him. He is older than them, thankfully that these boys are polite he thought.

 

“I’ll be your new manager, but for now I’m still rendering with my current artist I’ll officially start after 2 weeks, but for now a temporary manager will be assigned to you.” He said with a smile.

 

“Nice to meet you Manager! But can we just call you Zhan-ge?” Jiacheng said, he’s the leader of the group.

 

“Of course! Hoping that we all get along well, let me know if you have any problem and we will solve it as soon as possible, okay?” Zhan said.

 

“Manager I have a question?” Zhiguang said as he raised his hand like a student.

 

“Yes?”

 

“Why are you a manager? Are you sure you’re not an actor?” he asked while intently looking at his face.

 

“Haha unfortunately I’m not like you guys, I’m shy in front of cam.”

 

“But you’re handsome Zhan-ge, no, not just handsome but pretty as well!” Zhiguang said while praising Zhan.

 

“I’m sorry about him Manager, he likes pretty people and things!” Peng Chuyue said while covering the mouth of Zhiguang.

 

“Haha it’s fine I’ll take that as a compliment, thankfully that you guys are lively. We’ll keep in touch from time to time for now and I’ll be moving near your dorm so don’t worry.”

 

“Wow really manager? You’ll do that for us?”

 

“Well, I don’t exactly have a place here in Beijing, so the company provided me a unit as well.” Zhan explained.

 

“Wow our company is rich!”

 

Since Xiao Zhan had a meeting with the group, he didn’t notice that someone has been contacting him for several times already, so while waiting in the bus station he noticed a familiar car, and as expected it’s Wang Yibo.

 

The door open and he sat beside Wang Yibo, well this is somehow new since most of the time he’s the one on the driver seat. But Pei Xin needs to experience this, so he just quietly sat beside Yibo. Of course, this is favorable for Yibo so he can easily interrogate his manager.

 

“So, Zhan-ge, you’re quite busy, aren’t you?” Yibo said while playing on his phone, obviously this young man is sulking.

 

“Yes, yes I’m sorry I disappeared; I just had a meeting regarding your schedule for the Fashion Week abroad.”

 

“But what took you so long? You’re not even answering your phone?” Yibo asked.

 

“I told you Pei Xin, this one is talkative.”

 

“Don’t change the subject Zhan-ge.”

 

“Aiyoo, again I had a meeting I need to put my phone on silent. Sorry, okay? Happy?” Xiao Zhan said but Yibo just ignored him and continued playing on his phone.

 

But for Yibo, things don’t feel right, maybe he’s just tired and annoyed.

 

It’s almost the time for the Fashion Week and Wang Yibo will have their flight at 2:00 AM in the morning with the company’s private plane. Yibo noticed that Xiao Zhan only had his small body bag and thought that maybe they had already transferred it on the plane.  But before on-boarding Yibo noticed that Xiao Zhan was not moving forward and looked like he was just watching them to onboard.

 

“What’s the matter Zhan-ge?”

 

“Sorry Yibo, I’ll won’t be able to assist you in Milan.” Xiao Zhan hesitantly said and not looking on Yibo’s eyes, of course he’s guilty but then again, he believes that Yibo wouldn’t mind since he already has a schedule.

 

“Why?!” Yibo angrily said.

 

“Sorry I just inform you, but I need to go to Chongqing.” He’s not lying though; he’ll visit his family after moving out.

 

“Like right now?” Yibo irritably asked, he noticed that his manager is manager is quite busy for the last 2 weeks, maybe this was the reason. But he needs to follow his schedule and needs to leave right now.

 

“We’ll talk once I got back.” Yibo just said he doesn’t want to prolong this any longer and accepts the fact that he’ll be stuck with his new manager and bodyguard, he on boarded on the plane without looking back at Xiao Zhan.

 

“Take care guys, see you!” Xiao Zhan said as he waves at them. This is better and see you around Wang Yibo and I’m sorry, he thought.

 

During the Fashion Week, Wang Yibo tried to finish his schedule as soon as he can, and of course Pei Xin was a bit overwhelm by what’s happening, thankfully Xiao Zhan is helping his over the phone. It is also evident how mad Yibo is, even though he’s smiling in front of the camera but that was just for his job.

 

Yibo tried not to contact Xiao Zhan, but he knows that Pei Xin is talking with him over the phone to help him, but instead, he’s looking for the man’s weibo and like what have mentioned he’s currently in Chonging and though that he will get every one last souvenir from Chongqing as revenge.

 

But Yibo didn’t realize that after this week, he will have a new official manager.

 

After his short vacation in Chongqing, Xiao Zhan moved to his unit of course with the help of Haikuan. Thankfully, they are far from Yibo’s unit and have a low chance of meeting them unless there’s an event within the company.

 

He already starts working as Xnine’s manager and accompany them to their schedule and like Haikuan promised he has more free time compared before. He remembers that this week, Yibo’s team will come home and Haikuan will inform them about the changes with the managers. Of course, he asked Haikuan to tell Yibo that Pei Xin is not yet aware of this, he will just apologize to Yibo if he meets him.

 

He will be lying if he said that he’s not sad and guilty with the changes, but it was his decision and it’s time for changes, besides Yibo is no longer problematic and matured now. But he’ll miss him since he’s his first artist, he also informed Talu of the changes and like what the others said, it’s better if he informed Yibo beforehand but again he explained why he didn’t do it. Now, during his free time he’s working as a freelancer as well and thankfully the tracksuit with his design was finish on time, so he asked Haikuan to give it to Yibo as a farewell gift.

 

Wang Yibo and his team arrived on their company, as expected most medias covers his visit in Fashion week. But Wang Yibo is not in mood to entertain any of them, and his brother asked his to drop by the company. He’ll surely meet Xiao Zhan after this, he hasn’t asked Pei Xin if Xiao Zhan already returned to Beijing due to his pride.

 

“Welcome back didi” Haikuan greeted him.

 

“What’s your business Da-ge, quick, I still have something to do.”

 

“You should rest first, besides Xiao Zhan left you a gift?”

 

“Why would he? Is he guilty because he didn’t inform me that he’ll assist me in Milan and don’t even contact me in the entire time? What kind of manager is he?” Yibo said sarcastically.

 

“Hmm, Yibo.”

 

“What?”

 

“You’ll have a new manager?” Haikuan said, while Yibo looks at him in disbelief and Haikuan continue explaining.

 

“He was transferred to another artist with less schedule, he requested to finish his 3 years contract with you, either he’ll resign or transferred to another artist. So, I just decided to transfer him instead of him resigning, he has the potential as a manager. I’ll talk to Pei Xin after this to inform him —-” but before Haikuan could finish his sentence Yibo interrupted him.

 

“Which artist is he assigned to?” Yibo said in a low but menacing voice. It’s obvious that he is mad.

 

“Xnine.”

 

“Where are they?”

 

“I think they have a scheduled recording today for music bank.”

 

As a previous idol and dancer, Yibo is knowledgeable on the different studio for pre-recordings, so he hurriedly walks out the room and obviously he’ll go to where Xiao Zhan is, but even if he’s mad, he didn’t forget to bring the gift from Xiao Zhan, he didn’t even inform Pei Xin that he will leave.

 

But before Pei Xin could follow him, Haikuan told him not to and let him be, he knew Yibo and with that look even as a CEO he cannot do anything, besides it’s Yibo who chose Xiao Zhan as his manager, and he is pretty sure that it’s because of his past but just didn’t want to admit. Sometimes Yibo forgot that Haikuan is older than him and might know something about his past as well.

 

Haikuan just praying that everything’s alright on Xiao Zhan side and Yibo won’t cause any disturbances during the recording.
