“Wen Ning! I told you; you shouldn’t run and exhaust yourself like that, you need to avoid sweating, or else they will discover your secret,” Wen Qing scolded her little brother.

“Aiya Wen Qing, we made sure that he has a thick make up and trust my own recipe make up, it’s waterproof!” Xiao Zhan said while looking so proud of his creation. Thankfully Xiao Zhan has knowledge of basic make up, although he only uses minimal of it when he is in his original world. They need to cover Wen Ning’s body, so he looks like a living person.

After further investigation with the help of Youwen, it seems like it was the idea of Wen Chao to kill Wen Ning and kidnap some of his attendants as well. That is the reason why he looked horrified when he saw Wen Ning in the palace.

Also, Xiao Zhan has been giving fake reports about the emperor to the prime minister that they have already consummated their marriage and hoping that he will bear a child. He also told them that the emperor just keeps on reading erotic books during his free time and always lazing around. Of course, Lan Zhan always keeps his act whenever he is in public, that’s why the empress’ report was confirmed by his spy as well.

The prime minister thought that at last the empress was getting back on track and their plans are going smoothly, all he needs to do is to make sure that everything that they need is ready before the birthday of the late king. He also asked if better he could spend time with his son to know him better, it seems that his son took a liking to the empress as his empress as well, and it is not a bad idea, given that Wei Wuxian is talented, powerful, and intelligent.

“I would love that, prime minister and I think there’s still something I need to discuss with young master Wen as well,” Xiao Zhan said with his gentle but fake smile.

The two went to the pavilion that was prepared by the prime minister, Youwen insisted on coming and since he’s already aware of what happened to Wen Ning, Xiao Zhan allows it just in case Wen Chao tried to harm him since he has Wen Zhuliu by his side. He cannot afford to make that happen; he needs to be aware all the time and limit the use of Chenqing.

“So young master Wen, do you any question, or should I say anything would you like to know?” Xiao Zhan said as he calmly drinks his tea in a confident manner, he has always had this intimidating aura when he is serious.

“Careful of your mouth, Wen Chao!” Before Wen Chao could finish his sentence, Youwen drew his sword and threaten Wen Chao, he may respect the prime minister and form an alliance with him to protect the empress, but it doesn’t mean he likes Wen Chao, he despised his tricks and ways of doing things, he is also weak and can only rely to Wen Zhuliu.

“Withdraw your sword Youwen, I can handle this. “Wei Wuxian!” Wen Chao angrily shouts.

Do not forget your place Wen Chao, I am still higher than you, in the palace and even with your father,” Xiao Zhan angrily said and mumbles to him, “You are just his son and without it, remember, you are nothing, well then, enjoy your tea young master Wen,” and left the angry Wen Chao on the pavilion.

The scene was noticed by Lan Zhan, he wanted to know what they were talking about, and asked himself why this always happened. It is always Youwen who is by his side whenever he is in danger, but he has a mission that he needs to accomplish as well. Thus, he decided just to finish and overthrow the Wen clan, he needs to be the true emperor and confess to Wei Ying again. He sorted out his feelings after talking to Wei Ying, and the empress is right, he did not fully trust him before, but he knew what he feels, he knew that his love is different to love that he has with Xingchen.

His feeling for Wei Wuxian is something that confused him before, but everything cleared up when he talked to Xingchen last day. He decided to seclude to clear his mind and talk to Xingchen, not only to apologize but know what really happened when he saw him outside the Xuanwu Cave. Xiao Xingchen also noticed the difference in gaze of the emperor to the empress and his conscience has been eating him ever since then, but he was blinded by his love for the emperor, not until Xue Yang told him to wake up and face the truth.

“My Emperor, you do not need to apologize, you owe me nothing, but it is I who owe you the truth,” Xingchen apologetically said.

“Please tell me what happened that time Xingchen.”

“I, I during that time, it is not me who discovered you in the cave. It is Wei Wuxian, he is with you trying to play an incomprehensible song using a lead to keep himself awake. Lan Zhan was astonished by the sudden confession of Xingchen, he knew that his feeling was gratefulness from saving him and he is just denying his feeling for the empress ever since they were children. Now it makes sense why the empress knew that song and was able to play perfectly on their wedding night. Now, he certainly loves him and the cheerful Wei Wuxian, he was happy when Wei Wuxian was announced as his soon to be empress but at the same time blinded by hatred when he learned that it was because of the Wen clan.

“I am sorry Xingchen, I really do, but I love Wei Ying, thank you and I am sorry Xingchen,” Lan Zhan sincerely said, he is even disappointed with himself and wanted to do the right thing.

“I know Your Majesty, I always know but I want you to know that I and Xue Yang will always support you,” Xingchen said as he gave the sweetest smile and relief to the emperor. It feels like he removed something out of his chest, and he needs to thank Xue Yang for telling him the truth that no matter how hopeful he is, the emperor will always choose Wei Wuxian.
