Chapter 14

Lan Zhan and Xiao Zhan arrived at Jingshin. Lan Zhan hurriedly put a seal on the area to protect them in case ambush and he also told Xichen to go back in the palace, but he refused.

“Wangji, you know I cannot do that. I cannot leave you alone with the empress,” Xichen worriedly said, he knew how strong the emperor is, but he is worried by the anxious look that he have.

“Hey, bro-in-law, what do you mean by that, I’m not dangerous but he is!” Xiao Zhan said while pointing at Lan Zhan.

“Wangji, let’s go back to the palace and I’ll be back here. I will personally guard Jingshi and the empress,” Xichen said.

“No, no, no! No one will be left here! You’re not even asking me if I’m okay with this plan!” Xiao Zhan said, his freedom will be taken away from him, he doesn’t even have the full recollection of Wei Ying’s memories so why do they need to confine him here. He’s already suffocated in the palace and now the emperor is planning to seclude him here, there’s no way he will agree to it.

“Wei Wuxian!” Lan Zhan angrily said and tighten the grip on Xiao Zhan’s wrist.

“Lan Wangji!” Xiao Zhan shouts back.

The two just glared at each other and no one wants to break it. While Lan Zhan almost tried to use his dominant pheromones to subdue the omega empress but a sudden realization strikes him, the empress will never like it, especially right now that he’s acting like during his teenager years, he doesn’t want Wei Ying to go back on his depress and cold self.

Xichen tried to break the two and asked his brother to calm down first, and explained, “Wangji, the empress is right. Also, nothing bad is happening with him right now and he needs to stay in the palace to recalled his memories.”

Lan Zhan sighed in resignation and declared, “I understand, I’m sorry I acted so rashly. But if ever, something will happen to you because of ‘that’ I will personally bring you here, even if you wanted or not.”

That’s the first time that Xiao Zhan froze in his spot, he knew that the emperor is just pretending weak and act as a puppet emperor but the chill that he can give is something that you cannot forget.

He wasn’t able to answer and they went back to the palace. He really needs to go back in his former world and he’s getting irritated as well by how complicated Wei Wuxian’s life is, he thought that he’s just a side character, so what’s with the sudden story development?

Wang Yibo woke up in the middle of the night and he thought that someone called him. When he look up to man he is watching over, he noticed a tear drop fall from his closed eyes.

“What are you dreaming, Xiao Zhan. Please wake up.” Yibo said as he grabbed Xiao Zhan’s hands and kiss it gently.

“Are you Wang Yibo?” Yibo look back to the man as he heard him weakly talked.

“Xiao Zhan?!” Yibo said and hurriedly called his name, but the other man just weakly shakes his head.

“You are, Wei Ying?” Yibo asked and the other man nodded.

“I see now, what’s happening, you really look like the emperor, no, not just look like you have the same face. No doubt we have the same look,” Wei Ying said.

“What do you mean?” Yibo asked.

“I have limited time here Yibo, I don’t know how this happened but my soul is weak compared to Xiao Zhan’s that’s why he can move over there, while I can only talk while I’m on this body.”

“Where’s Xiao Zhan?” Yibo anxiously asked.

“I think you already have an idea since you are talking to me with his body. He’s been there for a long time now.”

“Long time? But it’s only been 3 days since he collapsed,” Yibo explained.

“Seems like we have a different time, and it makes sense since it’s a different world.” Wei Ying explained.

“But how did you know that I am Wei Ying?” Wei Ying asked.

“I, I have a recollection, of my past life, you, I am–” Yibo said and Wei Ying flinched with the realization.

“I’m sorry Your Majesty, I can’t greet you with this frail body of mine. Maybe that’s the reason why we have different time, he didn’t just transmigated but Xiao Zhan is also me in the future and in a different world.”

“No need to greet me and no need to apologize, besides I am Wang Yibo, even though I have recollection of my past life, I was born as Wang Yibo not a Lan from Gusu.”

Xiao Zhan has been trying to investigate Wei Wuxian’s things especially the Stygian Tiger Amulet, it was actually connected on his Chenqing.

Even though it’s the middle of the night he tried to use it, at first he tried to play a song that was written on Wei Ying’s book but it was too harsh for him and made him breathless as he only learnt how to play a flute when he was in college for a play.

But nothing happened, so after a while he continued on playing but something comes into his mind, a sudden music that he often hums even in his previous world. He tried to play it, the song is nostalgic and somehow heard it after his wedding with Lan Zhan but he’s not sure if it was a dream or reality.

He waited and continue to play the music but nothing really happened so he didn’t know if he’s doing it right. Based on Wei Ying’s book and diary, the first song that he played was to resurrect feral ghost and make them follow you as soldiers.

He’s not afraid of ghost but nothing really happened after playing the flute, so he just decided to retire for the night and hide the Chenqing again. He will ask Youwen to train him tomorrow for self defense.

“Did you hear that Xue Yang?” Lan Zhan asked Xue Yang as he heard the familiar melody.

“What Your Majesty? I didn’t hear anything weird?”

“Mn.” Lan Zhan dismissed the thought, but he’s sure to what he had heard. It was Wuji, the song that he composed, but someone is playing using a flute, as if he dearly know the song.

“Hey, did you hear they’ve discovered a lot of dead bodies in Dafan mountain!”

“Yes, I’ve heard that! Upon investigation they also said that there were signs of them being a feral ghost! Like most of the bodies are shredded into pieces but they also said that they looked like they were fighting each other!”

“That’s scary! Well if that’s the case at least they are not attacking the people like they used to, right?”

“Yeah, you’re right!”

“What are they talking about Wen Ning?” Xiao Zhan asked.

“Ah, there were rumors that there were a lot of dead bodies in Dafan Mountain,” Wen Ning said.

“Eh? Where does it come from?” Xiao Zhan asked.

“That’s what they are investigating as well,” Wen Qing said.

“That’s scary, but where is Youwen?”

“He’s was called by the Prime Minister. They have an emergency meeting about Mt. Dafan,” Wen Ning said.

“Is that so?”

“Youwen, investigate what happened to Dafan Mountain and investigate also where the emperor and empress came from yesterday,” the Prime Minister said, he asked Youwen to investigate the two because of what happened last night at Dafan Mountain. He received a report that the two suddenly disappeared in the palace with only Lan Xichen as their escort.

“Yes, Prime Minister,” this is news to Youwen, even though that he asked someone to report the movement of the emperor, almost no one knew that they left the palace. But where did they go?

After the discussion, Wen Rouwen angrily throw his cup at his servants. Most of their ghost soldier were swipe out by the sudden attack at Dafan Mountain. Those ghost soldiers were the soldiers that they experimented with Yin Iron, unfortunately since they cannot extract the Yin Iron unlike the one with Wei Wuxian, then cannot fully use its potential and made those soldiers eaten by the demonic power of the Yin Iron and made them a feral ghost.

He is getting suspicious about the sudden disapperance of the empress with the emperor yesterday. The two are getting close and it’s obvious how different the emperor acts around the empress unlike before.

“Wei Wuxian, you sly fox, what did you do?”

“Achoo!”

“Your Highness! Are you okay?” Wen Ning asked.

“Are you sick Your Highness? Would you like me to accupuncture you?” Wen Qing asked but as if she’s threatening him.

“No! No! I’m okay though? Maybe someone’s talking behind my back,”

“Well, it’s not new Your Highness, they always talking behind your back,” Wen Ning said.

“Haha, I just love how honest you are We Ning, but then again I’m used to it, even in my world they are always talking behind me,” Xiao Zhan said.

“In your world?” Wen Qing asked.

“Ah, hehe, nothing,” Xiao Zhan just dismissed the conversation.

While Xiao Zhan is walking around the palace, he noticed the soldiers who are practising their archery.

“Wow, this is the first time I saw them doing that, I would like to try that as well Wen Ning!” Xiao Zhan excitedly said.

“Don’t tell me that you remembered Your Highness?” Wen Ning asked.

“Remember what?”

“You are a master archer when we were studying Your Highness,” Wen Ning declared.

“Me?!”

“Yes!” Wen Ning nods enthusiastically.

“Well to be specific, you just loves to hunt using archery,” Wen Qing added.

“Oh that makes sense, that’s why I like doing it,” Xiao Zhan mumbled as he remembers it was his past time in his world as well and he’s pretty good at it even with guns.

“Wohoo!”
“Yes”
“One more time Your Highness!”

“What’s happening there?” Lan Zhan asked to his eunuch, he noticed that some soldiers are watching something and they are also cheering so loudly.

“Ah, that, they said that the empress is practising his archery skill,” the eunuch said.

“The empress?” Lan Zhan asked to confirmed and hurriedly walked towards the archery field.

“Of course of course! Give me more arrows! Hahaha!” Xiao Zhan happily said, he loves the attention and cheers from soldiers and he’s really good at it like what Wen Ning mentioned.

“Goodness, Your Majesty, you’re here!” one of the soldiers said and the soldiers bowed down at his appearance.

“Eh? What’s that? What’s with the sudden quietness?” Xiao Zhan said, he’s trying a new trick where he covered his eyes but suddenly the soldiers got quiet.

Lan Zhan noticed the appearance of the empress, wherein his inner red robe is showing, and untied his outer black robe. Some sweats are dripping on his forehead but he still looks neat and clean, while his eyes are covered with black cloth and his hair on high ponytail with his red ribbon and with some movement, one can clearly see his beautiful nape.

“All of you, remain like that and do not look up, Wen Ning, why does the empress looks like that?”

“I’m sorry Your Majesty, but we asked him not to untied his black robe but he insisted because it’s hot,” Wen Ning explained.

“Oh, Lan Zhan! When did you arrived! But why are you guys not standing up?” Xiao Zhan asked as he removed the cover of his eyes and saw the soldiers and servants are still kneeling with their heads looking down.

Lan Zhan just look at his empress and tied his black robe and remove his ponytail. “You are the empress, you should watch what are you doing in public. You shouldn’t just remove your clothes specially in front of soldiers.”

“Why? It’s so hot here, besides we are all men!” Xiao Zhan said, somehow he’s forgetting that he’s an omega.

Lan Zhan also smell some of his pheromone, and thought that the empress didn’t even notice that some of his pheromones are leaking.

“Your pheromones are leaking,” Lan Zhan said, and Xiao Zhan sniffs himself in confusion but he cannot smell anything.

“I cannot smell anything? Do you smell my pheromones Xue Yang?” Xiao Zhan innocently moves towards Xue Yang as move his wrist to be sniffed by Xue Yang but the guard alpha innocently sniffed the empress’ wrist as well. Some soldiers gasp and gulp their salivia with the action of the two while keeping their head low.

“I didn’t smell anything Your Highness,” Xue Yang innocently said.

“See, we didn’t smell anything, right?” Xiao Zhan also asked the soldiers and hoping that could get an answer from other soldier alphas as well but no one dare to answer him in presence of the emperor.

It’s true, only Lan Zhan could smell his scent even though it’s faint ever since he injected pheromones to Wei Ying’s body, he can smell his scent.

But he was irritated by the action of the empress, so he just dragged the confused empress outside the archery field while he commands the poor soldiers to run ten times around the palace and commands Xue Yang to supervise them.

“Hey! Why would you do that! We are having fun!” Xiao Zhan said.

“Have you really lost your mind?! Where’s your decency while looking like that around those men?” Lan Zhan said.

“I told you it’s hot and my hair is too long, so I get irritated. Why are you even angry!”

Lan Zhan stopped walking and froze on the spot. He also thought the same, he’s somehow happy that Wei Ying is being his old self, outgoing and happy but he doesn’t get why that scene didn’t fit right with him. He’s the husband so why does he needs to show them that look?

“Again, you are the empress, enough of this. Let’s talk in our room after you take a bath,” Lan Zhan declared and asked some servant to hurriedly prepare the empress bath on his room.

“Wait! What I have a large bath in my own palace, why do I need to bathe in our wedding ro—.”

Unexpectedly, Lan Zhan used his ‘silence spell’ on the empress and Xiao Zhan uselessly struggles while walking.

While on the other hand the poor soldiers who are currently running around the palace are questioning themselves.

“I thought that the empress and emperor doesn’t have a good relationship!”

“I thought so!”

“Yeah!”

“And they say that the emperor is just a puppet emperor so why his aura is so cold earlier!”

“That’s right! I thought I will freeze!

“Yeah! I was so scared earlier!”

“Hey you guys are slowing down!” Xue Yang said while on the roof and somehow enjoying the scene in front of him and poor soldiers hopelessly run around the palace and promised not to play again with the empress.
