Xiao Zhan
He holds the cradle of the phone nervously and repeat the sentence he has to say…
He looked at the card and dialed the number…
He wiped the sweat from his forehead and he took a deep breath… he has no idea if he is crossing a line or not.
He thought he still can put down the telephone and walkway but after the fifth bell, the phone was picked from the other side.
“Hello this is Wang Yibo.” he heard his husband’s baritone voice after one week he has gone from Miami to London.
Zhan, it’s now and never… he softly speaks “It’s me… Zhan. I hope I’m not disturbing you.”
He doesn’t get the response all he heard was silence and then he heard Yibo stun voice.
“Zhan? everything is ok… and where you get my number.”
Damn, Zhan though he is in trouble…
“Hmmm actually I want to talk but I don’t have your number so I told aunt Yanli I need your number as I lost your number because my cell phone is off… I lied so don’t worry.. she said she will give to me and I take it.. I’m sorry if it bothers you.” he stat fumbling.
Yibo stops him.
“Zhan, ok Zhan… I get it… now come to the point what you want to talk… its everything all right.” he asked in a worried tone.
Zhan sighs. “Yes everything is ok… actually I need your permission.”
Yibo replied. “Permission for what.”
Zhan hesitantly said. “Aunt Yanli told me that today there is a book fair and many authors will be there for the signing… since I’m reading a book whose author is going to be there and she will be releasing the second installment of that book.. so aunt Yanli told me I should go.”
There was a silence for a moment then he hears Yibo laugh.
“Oh god for a moment I thought something is seriously wrong… you can go but you still haven’t told me about the location.”
Zhan played with his ends of the hair ‘It’s in the Florida City.”
Zhan can felt the war going in Yibo head as Yibo sighs.
“I… Zhan, it’s quite far away from where you live… I’m not comfortable you are going like this without my presence.” Yibo said irritably.
Zhan hold the grip on the phone tight and waited.
“Aunt Yanli will be going too and I’m taking Fei too but if you don’t want then I won’t go.” he meekly said.
Yibo sighs and reluctantly.
“You can go but you will come back home sharp at 6 not after that Zhan.” he warns him and Zhan nodes his head. “Also I’m sending the official driver from my Miami office… so tell him he will take you.”
Zhan excitedly said. “Of course Sir I will do whatever you have told me.. I’m really grateful.”
Yibo replied. “but still Zhan don’t make me regret my decision ok… I’m far away from you.. maybe I can’t do anything now but..”
Zhan suddenly replied. “I promise you I won’t… Thank you so much, sir and sir, I’m… when you will come back?”
Yibo said. “Maybe after 10 days but why.” he sounds curious why Zhan is asking.
Zhan looks down shyly. “I… I really miss you.. I hope you come back soon.”
Yibo was quiet for a moment. “I’m glad that you think about me…. honestly speaking I miss having you…. especially at night.”
Zhan blushed like a tomato but Yibo stop when Zhan heard in the background someone else voice.
Yibo replied. “Ok Jiya connect me… Zhan, I have to go I have a call on another phone but remember the time.”
Zhan happily replied. “ok I will. I love you.”
But Yibo doesn’t reply and he cut the phone. Zhan for a moment felt why Yibo did that but he told his naive heart that… maybe he is really busy…

(In The Book Fare)
Zhan holds his toddler daughter who was awestruck with the balloons and colorful camps and book stalls…
Zhan was also very excited and after he caught the author who wrote his favorite book he was on cloud nine…
Yanli who has found her old friends and they were chatting and having lemonade…
Zhan got extra time to buy out some more books… he also looks for the children books.
Since he is making a habit to read a storybook to Fei during her sleep night… he was busy looking at the books that he comes across a familiar person.
Zhan saw his friend from university time Chen Zhouxuan. She was still the same.
“Zhouxuan” Zhan said in a shocked.
Zhouxuan gaped at Zhan. “Oh my god Xiao Zhan.
She hugged Zhan and then she saw curious eyes of Fei looking at her.
“OH my she is yours… she is the cutest and beautiful baby I have ever seen.”
Zhan smiled proudly at his daughter then he said. “How are you Zhouxuan.”
Zhouxuan shakes her head. “Forget about me… tell me where the hell was you… you were gone like a ghost and I heard you are married to the hottest bachelor of town… oh my god I’m talking so much we need a place to sit come there is a small outdoor coffee bar .. come we will talk.”
Zhouxuan didn’t give Zhan any choice and drag him with her and made him sit.
“You sit I give the order for coffee.”
Zhan was puzzled as hell what happened to him but Zhouxuan was always like that… overexcited but he was not having a good feeling talking to her alone without Yibo permission, he has been operating like a robot for Yibo and he can change that habit of him….
Zhouxuan came back with the coffee and said. “so now spill where you were.”
Zhan hesitantly told her the edited and acceptable version of his married life that it was a business marriage and then they both fall in love and now have a baby.
Zhouxuan who look super interested.
“Oh wow.. well Wang Yibo doesn’t look like a guy who fall in love so easily… he was the hottest thing in the whole city no wonder how you catch him… and how rich he is too.. you know weeks ago when I saw you and Wang Yibo in the television where you both look like a superstar… it was some business gala event I think and damn the way he talk.”
Zhan smiled and nodes. “Yeah he is really handsome and intimidating too!”
Zhouxuan came closer. “Really like how in a normal way or in bed.”
Zhan blushed by the blunt words of Zhouxuan but it was made Zhan cautions not to say something extra so he changed the topic.
“We have been talking about me so long what about you.”
“Oh nothing I’m a journalist to a local newspaper and its boring nothing interesting than your life.. and my love life is high and low then high and low… so tell me about this beautiful girl.. she truly pick Wang genes.”
Fei who was busy chewing her teething biscuit, Zhan replied.
“What should I tell she is almost 8 months old and she is my life.” Zhan said with emotions.
Zhouxuan casually said. “I never thought a man like Wang Yibo will ever marry or had a child but I think things changed when he lost his sister… you know how she died… I remember she was our senior. She was with Xiaojun… oh yes she was.. so what happened.. is that true she was kidnapped and raped or it was a rumor since police have closed the case at that year because of lack of evidence but is that true.”
Zhan was now super uncomfortable and he stands.
“I think I have to go.. it’s almost 5 and Fei nap time will be disturbed if I don’t put her in the bed… it was nice meeting you bye.”
Zhan try to get away but Zhouxuan stand and hug him tightly like he is her best long lost friend.
“Oh come on give me hug and promise me you will meet soon.”
Zhan smiled reservedly. “sure.”
Somehow Zhan reached home at 5:50 and he relaxed a little… at exact 6; 00 the phone ring and it was Yibo.
“You are back.”
“Yup I was in the home at 5; 50.” Zhan softly replied.
Yibo took a relief sighs. “Oh that’s good.”
Zhan thought why Yibo sounds so tense.
“Is everything ok.” Zhan meekly said.
Yibo’s intimidating voice came. “Yeah… I have to go.”
Zhan put down the phone in confusion.. What was that about.

Wang Yibo
Yibo was freaking out when he thought he might make the biggest mistake of his life letting Zhan go alone…
Zhan might have run… maybe go to the police…
Yibo shakes his head, this seed was planted inside his head by Mom and Haikuan who have called him after he had given a permission to Zhan.
His mom said on the phone.
“I can’t believe Yibo you left that boy alone in the house… what if he turned Yanli against you what if he goes to the police.” Carmen yelled.
“Mom plz don’t come to conclusion.. He won’t say such stuff I can guarantee you. And why you are so upset about it all of a sudden.” Yibo patiently said.
“Cause I’m seeing things that you can’t see…. he is letting you fall for him and you are falling in his trap and I think he is succeeding… I saw the pictures of you guys in the newspaper… he looked like a proper elite class man… you really spent a fortune on him…” Carmen sarcastically said
Yibo understand where this anger is coming from the freaking pictures of them in gala…
He took out his cigarette and smoke. “Mom I’m doing what’s best plz just trust me.”
Carmen start yelling at him again that Haikuan came and took the phone and said.
“Wow brother… you are entertaining mom very much (Haikuan tease him) but she was right… you should not leave Zhan alone., we can’t trust him too much he will get a chance anyhow and I’m telling you he will avail it..!”
Yibo put the cigarette in the ashtray and think….
Maybe Haikuan is right he is getting too soft on him and after Zhan confesses he loves him, he felt a change of heart…
Yibo said again but in anger. “Haikuan if you believe me, then let me do what I’m doing.”
He put down the phone and then wait for the clock to turn 6… he is the man of his word… Zhan knows he can’t double cross him… Yibo console himself like that.
When the clock turns 6 he calls the landline and took a relieved breath when he heard his soft calm voice of Zhan… fuck he is here… he did not go anywhere.
He put down the phone and shake his head and said… “Zhan won’t betray me, he knows the consequences for that. Mom and Haikuan are just freaking out for nothing.”
