Chapter 12

 

Wang Yibo arrived on the studio where Xnine is, while he’s on the road. He asked Pei Xin to confirm the schedule of Xnine and their backstage room. He didn’t even bother to wear a face mask, fortunately he has his hat. But still some of the producer noticed him but he ignored them and walk directly towards Xnine room. The aura around him is so cold that the producers and staff didn’t even dare to call him, although they are wondering why he’s in this building. Fortunately, there are less people today and no media.

 

He is so furious so he just straight up open the backstage room, obviously the boys inside are flabbergasted by the sudden appearance of their technically senior in C-ent, although some of them are older than him.

 

“Where’s Xiao Zhan?” Yibo asked in not so friendly tone, they thought that the rumor about this man is true that he’s cold and the fact that he’s furious by a certain person.

 

“Uhm Zhan-ge is with the director, they are just talking about something. Nice to meet you senior —” Zhiguang said.

 

“Hm” Yibo answered but before he could open the door, it opens from the outside.

 

“Hi guys here are your foods! Wang Yibo? What are you doing here?” Xiao Zhan said he was surprised by the sudden appearance of his previous artist, so he quickly closes the door to avoid rumors as well, but he seems to forget that his current artists are inside the room as well.

 

“What I’m I doing here? It’s funny that you asked that, obviously I need to talk to my manager.” Yibo said with sarcasm, and again he seemed to forget that they have some audience. While the Xnine is still astonished with the scene in front of them, they just keep quiet and watch the two.

 

“Sorry, but I’m no longer your manager. I believe Haikuan explained everything,” Zhan said while avoiding looking into his eyes.

 

“I didn’t hear about your resignation, so you’re still my manager.” Yibo said, Zhan can feel how furious Yibo is, he has the right of course.

 

“No Yibo, officially it’s Pei Xin, I already have my new artists besides we only have 3-year contract.”

 

“But you should have reminded me to renew it!”

 

“What’s the difference between me and your previous managers? You just don’t care if they went AWOL and I was clearly re-assigned in a proper way with approval of the CEO.” Xiao Zhan said while explaining, he just doesn’t get why Yibo is acting this way. Previously, with his previous managers Yibo doesn’t care if his manager went AWOL or didn’t contact them and the company just assigned a new manager for him.

 

While Yibo was getting frustrated by Xiao Zhan’s attitude, he suddenly grabbed Xiao Zhan’s wrist and attempted to leave the room, but Jason and Zhiguang from Xnine tried to stop him while holding to Zhan’s other wrist and back part of the cloth. They knew that Yibo was not in the mood, but they just cannot let their manager go with him since he’s an A-lister celebrity with a cold attitude and rumors. With the sudden action, Yibo glares at both and he just looks at them while not saying anything, and his grip on Xiao Zhan’s wrist is getting stronger.

 

Xiao Zhan noticed this as the grip on his wrist was getting painful, but he thought that he’s at fault as well and still unprofessional of him to do that to Yibo, maybe that’s the reason why Yibo is getting mad at him. Besides, he forgot that Yibo already told him that they will talk once he got back from the Fashion Week, and to avoid any rumors and he doesn’t want to ruin Yibo’s image to his junior and misconceptions about him. So, he asked Jason and Zhiguang to let him go.

 

“Guys, thank you but I will talk to Mr. Wang first you can go to the car if you want to after you eat, just give me few minutes, okay? Sorry and thank you” Thankfully the boys understand and let him go but clearly some of them are worried about what’s happening although they are aware that he’s handling a celebrity before.

 

They walk towards Yibo’s car and Yibo attempts to start the car and move place. But Xiao Zhan said that he would not talk to him if they leave the place.

 

“I’m sorry Mr. Wang, I just didn’t realize that was so unprofessional of me. I thought you wouldn’t mind because of your previous managers. You just delete their numbers as soon as you received the report that they resigned or awol. I—”

 

“You thought I wouldn’t mind? And you are just calling me what? Mr. Wang?” Yibo is so mad that he’s just laughing with frustration while looking straight and furrowed eyebrows.

 

“Sorry, I have been working with you for the last 3 years and I really appreciate the bond that we had, I know this may sound selfish but I don’t want to see people who doesn’t care or act indifferent whenI leave, especially when I’m close to them and given that you did that to your previous managers, I always thought that you’ll do the same to me and it would be painful for me to see you like that as well. I just have some anxiety about the people I’m close with. Maybe it’s just my defense mechanism to leave quietly when I know someone’s attitude.” Xiao Zhan explained while fumbling with his hands, he’s sincere about it.

 

“You know my attitude? But still leave without saying anything?” Yibo said with closed eyes while massaging his forehead.

 

“I’m sorry, I overlook and that was unprofessional of me, but I already give your schedule to Mr. Haikuan and I believe he already talk to Pei Xin.” Zhan said while giving a respectful bow to Yibo.

 

“That’s not the point! I don’t care how unprofessional you are! But don’t leave without saying anything!” Yibo tried to stop what he was saying, he just cannot blurt out everything about their past, especially when Xiao Zhan cannot seem to recognize him. He just cannot say that he’s the one who hired him and gives those company perks that they don’t usually give to other managers. He just cannot say that he has been waiting for him for a long time now. He was so frustrated, so he held Xiao Zhan’s shoulder and tried to calm down.

 

“You don’t even call me Bo-di or Lao Wang, just Mr. Wang. You, you sound like I am stranger.” Yibo said while holding to Xiao Zhan’s shoulder and lowering his head.

 

But Xiao Zhan realized that maybe Yibo also treated him as a friend that he can rely on. He felt bad, he’s so proud to say that Yibo has matured and no longer problematic, but he failed to notice that maybe Yibo has changed his view as well to the people around him and treat them as a friend especially when he’s the longest manager that he has. But he cannot change his decision, he has his own life as well and working with a celebrity like him will get him to nowhere, especially when he’s already in the age of settling down although he loves to work but he cannot dedicate all his life to his work.

 

“I’m sorry Yibo, we’ll talk tomorrow, okay? I promise I’ll go to your unit tomorrow for now let me drive you home, okay?” Thankfully Yibo’s unit is just 10 minutes’ drive away from this studio and they still have enough time before the group finish their dinner. Thankfully, Yibo calmed down and there’s also evident that this man still has a jet lag from his trip and tired. Zhan drove Yibo and assisted him into his unit.

 

“Well then Yibo, see you tomorrow. As promised, we will talk tomorrow” Zhan bid farewell then bows and closes the door even though Yibo didn’t turn around to bid farewell nor to look at him. This is what he meant when he said that Yibo might act indifferent with him when resigned. But still, he will talk to Yibo tomorrow.

 

Zhan went back to the studio by taxi and apologized to the group, clearly, he has some explaining to do tomorrow and he also updates Pei Xin that Yibo’s already at home.
