MRE-Chapter 3

As Youwen arrives in the palace he quickly moves Wei Ying to his room and Wen Ning assists them, but he is appalled by the current appearance of his master. He’s acting as a dummy on his master’s bed so if in case Wen Qing check Wei Ying, she will though that he soundly speaking, but he didn’t expect that Youwen would escort him from the outside.

 

“Quick! Call the doctor and ask them to check him!” Youwen asked Wen Ning.

 

Wen Ning discreetly looks for the imperial doctor as Youwen instructed and he doesn’t want to feel the wrath of his sister as well. The doctor checked Wei Ying and told them that he just lost consciousness and soundly sleeping. Youwen dismissed the doctor and threatened him to never mention this to anyone, fearing for his life the doctor pledged not to tell anyone.

 

Youwen also dismissed Wen Ning and he knows that he’s a friend of Wei Ying and can be trusted. He sits beside him and observes him while sleeping, he’s really worried about him when he received a message that he had an accident and not waking up, so he finished his work as soon as possible. He needs to investigate who dared to hurt Wei Ying and even tried to assassinate him, maybe it is really time for him to accept the position of Minister of War to protect Wei Ying as well.

 

It feels like he is still alone in this palace even though he has Wen Qing and Wen Wing, this is because of their heartless puppet emperor. He didn’t deserve a man like Wei Ying, he valuable, a dominant omega, a loveable and intelligent person, he grew up with him, so he knew how Wei Ying attracted to the emperor, even though it is a one-sided love. If possible, he should have hide him from the Wen’s family and became his husband instead, he grabs his hands and kissed it.

 

“I don’t want you to suffer, I’ll always be at your back, protecting you even if you hate me in the future.”

 

Lan Zhan went back to the palace together with his brother and Xue Yang, he told them what happened and asked them to give him some time to investigate Wei Ying after their marriage.  For some reason he wanted to give him a benefit of a doubt.

 

Wei Ying woke up with headache and hang over, so he’s craving for some spicy soups to cure his hang over but an unexpected visitors came, his older sister, Jiang Yanli and his younger brother, Jiang Cheng. Wen Ning informs him that he has visitors, and he assists them inside, as they enter the room Yanli ran towards Wei Ying to tightly hug him.

 

“A-xian, are you alright? What happened? Everyone knows that you are a good swimmer.” Yanli asked, even though Wei Ying changed because of his training as the future Empress, it doesn’t change the fact that he was loved by his sister and brother.

 

“Ah, erm, I’m okay now, I don’t actually know what happened either,” Xiao Zhan said. Wen Ning explained everything to Yanli and Jiang Cheng about what happened after he woke up; it seems he cannot recall some of his memories. Even though he is craving spicy soup, his Shije Yanli also cooked him some lotus rib soup and thought that it’s not that bad, maybe because it was Wei Ying’s favorite food that’s it is good with his palate.

 

Jiang Cheng and Yanli left the room to meet the emperor, they discussed the upcoming wedding of the two, since he had an accident, they moved the celebration and still waiting for the arrival of the other Yunmeng Jiang clan. Just before the celebration they will have a Ministry meeting to welcome the new Minister of War, of course Lan Zhan already expected who might this be.

 

After the pledges of the new Minister of War, he quickly visits Wei Ying to his palace and gives respect to give his oath his loyalty to the future Empress of the empire. Youwen asked Wen Ning to announce his presence to Wei Ying, but before Youwen went inside, Wen Ning explained their relationship and told them that it was his childhood friend.

 

“I’m here Your Highness, how are you feeling?” Youwen asked him and it was evident that he is really concerned about Wei Ying.

 

“I’m alright! Thank you for your concern, how about you?” Xiao Zhan awkwardly asked, he is pretty sure that this guy is a dominant alpha as well, and he is still irritated that he’s an omega. He wanted to be a top as well!

 

 

“Do you remember what happened last night? Do you have any idea who wanted to kill you?”

 

“Last night? What happened last time?” Xiao Zhan tries to remember what happened last night and remembers that someone really tried to assassinate him, and curious why people around Wei Ying wanted to kill him.  He just woke up from a coma and had some fun and now someone tried to kill him again. “Ah! That’s right! Someone tried to kill me, but I don’t know who he is.”

 

“Is that so? Hmm. Do not worry Your Highness since I am now the current Minister of War, I will strengthen the security around you, I’ll give you the best soldiers that we have.”

 

“Wow, really?! You can do that?”

 

“Yes, I accepted this position to protect you,” Youwen declared his loyalty to Wei Ying.

 

“Wow, that’s good to hear at least I can live peacefully without getting anxious Hahaha” Xiao Zhan said as he is trying to lighten the mood and feel thankful as well to Wei Ying’s friend, he also gives him a hug and thought that it was a normal thing to do.

 

Youwen startled by the sudden skin ship, and can still smell the omega’s pheromones, so before he loses himself, he tries to change the topic.

 

“You will have your wedding in a few days, I hope you still maintain your composure, I know you have been attracted to the emperor for a long time, but don’t forget that he still an alpha.”

 

“Aiyo, please don’t remind me. I feel suffocated whenever I think that I am getting married.” Youwen recalled that Wei Ying also said the thing before he had an accident in lake that he feels suffocated, but he didn’t mention what really is the problem.

 

 

During that time, he looks vulnerable while soaked in the rain and sitting in a corner of a small storage room. He tried to soothe him during those times and a moment later they realized that their lips have met, embarrassed by the situation Wei Ying, quickly ran outside the storage and that is the last time that they have seen each other before he went to the mountain and Wen Ning also mentioned that Wei Ying lost some of his memories due to the accident.

 

“Your Highness, do you remember what happened the last time we met?”

 

“Ah, that I’m sorry no. I actually lost some of my memories and you can just call me by my name or cultivation name when we are alone, we are friends right?”

 

“Can I really do that?”

 

“Of course! I’ll just call you Youwen as well.”

 

 

“I understand Wei Ying.”

 

The day of the wedding has come and naturally being a man of modern China, Xiao Zhan knows some of their traditions too, but he cannot believe that there will be a day that he will use his knowledge in doing these traditions. As a designer himself, he can tell that their country has a rich culture although this novel is a fantasy or wuxia genre.

 

After the painstakingly long wedding, they assist him to their marital room and his current husband is having a conference with his ministers, where in fact it was an order from the Wen Clan. As a result, he has no choice but to wait for him to enter the room and remove his red veil. He really wanted to remove it but there’s Wen Qing looking out for him, so he waits for Lan Zhan to wrap up his business.

 

It’s already evening, and Xiao Zhan is getting hungry and irritated, who the hell made their wife wait for this long, he thought. He understands how Lan Zhan loathes Wei Ying as he was designated by the Wen’s Clan, but then again, he’s the emperor so he should have the courtesy to check his Empress as well, only before Xiao Zhan officially lost his patience, Wen Qing announced the arrival of the emperor. Wen Qing and the others left the front of the room to give them their privacy as this would be their first night as newlyweds.

 

Lan Zhan walks directly to their bed and lies down without even acknowledging his Empress, Xiao Zhan fully lost his temper and yells at him.

 

“Yaa! You asshole Emperor, I have waited for so long and you just pay no heed to me! You should have at least removed this annoying veil!” due to his anger, Xiao Zhan was able to speak like an ancient person, but Xiao Zhan noticed that man in question has been sleeping peacefully and reeks of alcohol.

 

He received a report from Wen Ning before that this man cannot handle alcohol so it might be true, however, he is still annoyed by the fact that he just ignores him and now sleeping, and he really looks the same as Wang Yibo.

 

However due to famished, he just lies down beside him and tried to get the blanket since it’s so cold but the sleeping man beside him is so strong that he didn’t even let go of the blanket when he’s fully asleep. Xiao Zhan thought that this man might just pretending to sleep to ignore him, but he has no strength to argue with him, thus he just closes his eyes and use his veil as his blanket and decided to sleep.

 

During midnight, Lan Zhan woke up after he made sure that Wei Ying was fully asleep. He stares at him and asks, “Who are you? Are you really a foe?” Lan Zhan doesn’t even know why this man’s pheromone is familiar with him, and full of nostalgia.

 

He went on the balcony of their room and get his guqin to play a song, he created this song for his first love and savior when he was trapped in Xuanwu Cave when he was young, but for some reason up until now he cannot give a proper name to this song when he already found yet again his savior, Xingchen.

 

In contrast, despite being in the presence of the enemy he has the desire to play again this song to soothe this man on his bed with furrowed eyebrows while he is sleeping.

With a mellow and soothing song, Xiao Zhan has a good night and peaceful sleep.
